Meet the team at Heritage Quarry Group

Julian Veal

Managing Director

Julian was land and planning manager for a major housebuilder, then moved into quarrying 15 years ago after undertaking a diploma and a degree in Mineral Processing. Julian was awarded the Highest achieving student award at Derby University in both Diploma and Degree courses.

Julian was General Manager of a large scale site in the Cotswolds with responsibility for crushed limestone, RMX concrete plants, concrete block manufacture, inert landfill, recycling operations, project management, large scale plant workshop and dimension stone processing.

Looking for a new challenge, Julian joined Heritage Quarry Group in 2020 and has greatly enjoyed the journey from start-up to thriving aggregate producer of premium limestone products and is excited by the future opportunities the business is capable of.

Outside of work Julian’s interests are his children, DIY, running, football and travel.

Evie McCabe

Commercial and Systems Manager

Evie lives locally to Great Tew and started working regularly within our businesses during her holidays from Harper Adams University. Her extensive capabilities were clear and so it became a natural fit for both parties that she joined us full time from June 2023 on completion of her degree.

Evie is responsible for all the day to day sales and transport of Group materials and is project managing improvements to business systems and administration. Outside of work Evie’s interests are animals and country pursuits.

Lucy Drinkwater

Office Manager

A skilled and highly efficient organizer, Lucy spent many years as in a full time role as a PA, before joining HQG in a family-friendly flexible role as Office Manager.

Lucy is responsible for general office management, weighbridge cover, Health and Safety administration and Training needs

Outside of work Lucy’s interests are her children, cycling and travel.

Martin Hill

Quarry Manager (Great Tew)

Martin is an experienced and knowledgeable quarry manager local to Great Tew and has a natural ability to problem solve, a willingness to modernise and a strong eye for safety and quality. Martin has helped develop Great Tew Quarry into new territory and is a key component of a unique and thriving business. Outside of work Martin is a keen motorcyclist and football fan.

George Lawrence

Quarry Manager (Daglingworth)

George joined the Group following a successful secondment in 2020 and has developed quickly to be current Quarry Manager at Daglingworth Quarry and is responsible for the safe operation and restoration of the quarry and has completed SHE Level 3 QCF in Quarrying Operations. Outside of work, George enjoys farming.

Lisa Cooper-Windscheffel

Weighbridge Clerk (Rollright)

Previously weighbridge operator for the Johnston Quarry Group at Oathill Quarry, Lisa joined OQG in 2021. Lisa has over 6 years experience operating weighbridges and is responsible for weighbridge administration, transport planning and front of house work.

Outside of work Lisa’s interests are socializing, her children, running and travel.

Ceirion Makin

Assistant Quarry Manager (Rollright)

Ceirion is a recent appointment to the management team having worked for the business as a walling stone supervisor. During this time he increased safety, quality and productivity and was a natural fit to the AQM role. He lives locally to the quarry and outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and home improvements.
